Forte Junior High School will hold its 8th Grade Day of Service on Friday, November 21. From 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, 8th grade students and staff will partner with local organizations and city departments for a morning of hands-on service projects designed to benefit the Azle community and provide meaningful service-learning experiences.
During the event, students will:
Visit assisted-living sites to spend time with residents playing games, making crafts, and socializing.
Perform outdoor maintenance at several locations by spreading mulch, raking leaves, and picking up litter.
Support elementary schools by reading to students and assisting teachers and staff with classroom tasks.
Assist the Azle Area Chamber of Commerce in preparing activities for the upcoming Christmas parade.
Confirmed community partners include: Azle Deer Cove; Walnut Creek Elementary; Azle Area Chamber of Commerce; Community Caring Center; Cross Timbers Elementary; Assisted Living of Azle; City of Azle; Eagle Heights Elementary; Silver Creek Elementary; City of Azle Fire Department; Cross Timbers Golf Course; Servolution Network; Azle Parks Department; Azle Transportation; Azle Manor; Azle Elementary; and Liberty Elementary.
Students and staff will arrive at host sites between 9:30 AM and 10:00 AM. Students who bring sack lunches will return to Forte after the morning service. Once back at school, students will meet in their chaperone groups to create a 1–2 minute reflection describing what they did at their site, how they liked the experience, and their favorite part. The Day of Service will conclude with a pep-rally–style assembly where students will share reflections and watch a highlight video with photos from students serving throughout the day, prepared by Forte’s digital media teacher, Marissa Kelley.
“We are grateful to our community partners for welcoming Forte students and providing opportunities for them to serve, learn, and grow,” said Nancy Brann, Coordinator and Forte Junior High Counselor. “This day emphasizes the value of civic responsibility, compassion, and teamwork.”
