Students in all school districts are increasingly becoming targets for phishing or scam emails. These emails are designed to trick you into giving away personal information or passwords, which can lead to problems like identity theft or your accounts being compromised.

Here’s what you need to know to stay safe:

  • Be Suspicious: Always be cautious of emails that seem unusual, come from unexpected senders, or just don't feel right.

  • Watch Out for Links: Be especially careful with emails that contain links to online forms or documents asking for personal information (like your Social Security number, address, or phone number) or passwords.

  • Verify, Don't Reply: If you're unsure if an email is legitimate, do NOT reply to the sender or click any links. Instead, speak directly to the person the email claims to be from (e.g., a teacher, administrator, or district staff member) to confirm it's real.

  • Report It: If you receive a suspicious email, please report it immediately to a campus administrator or a teacher. They will share it with the Technology Department.

For example, in the past few days, some AHS students received a phishing email with a subject of “Job Opportunity” that contained a link to a form that asks for personal contact information. The form link has been blocked on student Chromebooks.

Azle ISD will never request personal information using a Google Form or similar type of form, and any district jobs will use the official district application process and not a form.

Your online safety is important to us.

Thank you,
Azle ISD Technology Department
