Azle ISD is pleased to announce that former Silver Creek assistant principal Keri Dorris has been selected as the new principal of Silver Creek Elementary School.

With 26 years of experience in education, including 21 years in Azle ISD, Mrs. Dorris has taught at the elementary, junior high, and high school levels. She also served as an instructional coach at the secondary level and AVID district director before transitioning into the assistant principal role at Silver Creek.

She received her Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and English Literature from Tarleton State University and her Principal Certification from Lamar University.

Dorris comes from a family of educators. Her parents and brother all retired from public education and her husband, Devon, is the head football coach and athletic coordinator at Azle High School. They have two sons who are both Azle High School graduates – Dane recently graduated from Oklahoma State University and will be teaching and coaching at the middle school level this fall. Drew currently attends Tarleton State University.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to serve as the principal of Silver Creek Elementary,” said Dorris. “It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated teachers, staff, students, and families. I look forward to building on the strong and positive culture that has been established at Silver Creek.”

This experience, along with her commitment and passion as an assistant principal at Silver Creek Elementary this past school year and extensive knowledge of our Azle ISD community makes her an ideal match for the students, parents, and staff of Silver Creek Elementary.”
