Overview

  • Hornet DEPOT will operate four days per week for three hours per day (after the regular school day ends) for a minimum of 90 days per school year.

  • Each student participating in the grant-funded after-school program will attend at least three days per week.

  • The after-school program will maintain a program staff-to-student ratio of 1:15 or lower. (The tutoring ratio will be 1:4.)

  • All students will be provided with a daily snack, high-impact tutoring in math and/or reading, and a dedicated physical space that is safe, properly equipped, and easily accessible for students.

  • The research-based tutoring platform used for math intervention is Zearn. (This product is required by TEA.)

  • All tutors receive professional development laser-focused on using Zearn to deliver high-impact tutoring in a small group setting.

  • For reading, all tutors receive student-specific feedback from the campus teachers and interventionists to tailor the tutoring experience to their individual needs.

According to TEA, "High-impact tutoring leads to substantial learning gains for students' classroom experiences.”
