Azle ISD has partnered with Academy 4 to provide a one-on-one mentor from the community to every fourth grader at Cross Timbers and Hilltop Elementary schools for the entire school year.
Academy 4 volunteers serve together once per month for 90 minutes during the school day, mentoring fourth-grade students around leadership.
Students attend “Spark Clubs” to participate in sports, music, STEM, art, cooking activities, and more before meeting one-on-one with their mentor, where they walk through a leadership development curriculum learning a new leadership trait each month (Listen, Encourage, Attitude, Develop, Example, Respect, Serve).
About Academy 4
Academy 4 is a non-profit, in-school program that believes mentoring is the most effective tool to provide children with a greater sense of self-worth and a positive view of the future. Having a supportive and consistent relationship with a dependable adult outside of their immediate family provides children with a safe place to talk, learn, and build trust.
