Azle ISD Student Cell Phone Expectations
In Azle ISD, our top priority has always been to provide impactful learning opportunities for our students. To better ensure the safety and emotional well-being of all students, we made the decision to have “cell phone-free” classrooms.
Azle ISD will implement cell phone-free classroom expectations for the 2024-25 school year in line with our Student Handbook and Board Policy FNCE. These expectations were developed to prioritize student learning in the classroom and minimize distractions while balancing the need for cell phones during emergencies.
District-owned technology devices (Chromebooks, iPads) are issued to individual students for instructional purposes.
Students will be allowed to have cell phones, earbuds, and other personal electronic devices in their backpacks, and cell phones will be prohibited for personal use during instructional time.
Campus administrators will state expectations clearly and reinforce the importance of maintaining a cell phone-free learning environment. Teachers and staff will model the same protocols and monitor expectations among students in a fair and equitable manner. Accommodations will be made for students who require a personal electronic device for medical assistance or for Individualized Education Programs.
Students who do not follow these expectations will be subject to disciplinary consequences in accordance with our Student Code of Conduct and Policy FNCE.
