Azle ISD Athletics is excited to announce that Kathleen “Dani” Johnson has been selected as the head coach for Azle High School Cheer. Coach Johnson will also be teaching Algebra I at AHS.
Johnson comes to Azle ISD from Hebron High School, where she served as a CTE teacher and cheer coach since 2024. She also worked with elite Level 5 teams through Texas Cheer Allstars, earning titles of 2026 NCA Champion, 2026 All-Star Worlds Champion, and Elite Main Base and Backspot. Coach Johnson taught and coached cheer in Springtown for four years prior to her time at Hebron High School.
She attended Midwestern State University, where she was a member of the co-ed cheer team, and was also a competitive and school cheerleader in high school.
“Cheerleading is my lifelong passion, and I am thrilled to be able to bring that energy to Azle cheer for the upcoming season,” said Johnson.
