AHS wrestling teams with coaches, wearing medals and holding Regional Champion trophy

Azle High School wrestling teams competed in the Region 1-5A Championships in Lubbock on February 6-7, 2026, and for the first time in school history, both the boys and girls teams won the Regional Championship as a team in the same year! This was the first Regional Championship for the AHS boys team and the second for the girls team. This achievement is a testament to their hard work and dedication - not just to their individual goals, but to each other on and off the mat.

In total, 14 wrestlers placed in the top six, and 11 will compete at the UIL State Championships in Cypress on February 13-14.

  • Noah Kovach: Back-to-Back Regional Champion

  • Chase Yancey: Regional Champion

  • Mackenzie Harris: Regional Champion

  • Zaylyn Woods: Regional Champion (Defeated the #1 girl in the state; 45-0 on the season)

  • Sage Mosier: Regional Runner-up

  • Camron Latham: Regional Runner-up

  • Elly Yelle: Regional Runner-up

  • Wyatt Hicks: Regional Third Place

  • Jordan Durrett: Regional Third Place

  • Kolby Moreland: Regional Fifth

  • Mark O’Neil: Regional Sixth

  • Tyler Hicks: Regional Sixth

  • Nevaeh Altringer: Regional Sixth

  • Coach Tyler Harrison: Named Region 1-5A Boys Head Coach of the Year

  • Coach Dakota Bradshaw: Named Region 1-5A Girls Assistant Coach of the Year

The AHS boys and girls teams were also 2026 District 4-5A Champions. Coach Tyler Harrison was named District 4-5A Coach of the Year, Coach Jayson Conger was named District 4-5A Girls Coach of the Year, and Coach Michael Mitchell was named District 4-5A Assistant Coach of the Year.
