Letter from Coach Sain
We are blessed to live and work in a place where educational opportunities and the development of well-rounded young people are priorities. It is our desire to create athletic programs that will be a great compliment to the Azle ISD mission, vision, and beliefs. Azle ISD is a school district that takes great pride in ensuring that all decisions are student-centered. The Azle ISD Athletic Department is committed to doing its part in making sure our Districtβs vision of taking intentional steps in creating future-ready citizens is carried out through the lessons that are taught on a daily basis within our programs.
It is the mission of Azle Athletics to DEVELOP CHAMPIONS FOR LIFE because we are TRUSTED WITH the SONS AND DAUGHTERS of our amazing Azle ISD community! Being a champion for life means that our student-athletes understand the values of attitude, commitment, responsibility, accountability, work ethic, and the team concept. Our coaches never assume that each student-athlete is born with these traits, but rather, these traits need to be brought out through intentional developmental processes. These values will play a large role in enabling them to be successful in any endeavor they decide to pursue long after their time in Azle ISD is over.
We ask all of our stakeholders to please understand that athletics is designed to accommodate students who have the ability and emotional stability to handle competition. Therefore, not all students are capable of competing in our programs. One of the difficult tasks faced as a coach is making the judgment as to who should be selected to compete in their programs. Students are not obligated to take part in athletics, nor is it required for graduation. It should be stressed that being a member of an athletic team is a privilege and not a right. Since it is a privilege, the coach has the authority to revoke the privilege if a student-athlete is unable to meet all of the requirements necessary to participate in athletics. While we maintain that our coaches have the authority to revoke the privilege to be a part of a program, this is something that we will never take lightly. We strive to impact as many student-athletes as we can through athletics which is impossible to do if they are not a part of athletics.
Athletics demands a great deal of time and dedication from coaches, players, and parents alike. Each Coach will know that their players and program will reflect their attitudes, beliefs, and work ethic. This does not necessarily translate into a superb win-loss record but it does mean that athletes representing Azle ISD will have discipline, responsibility, and a strong work ethic if you yourself have these traits.
Sincerely,
Michael Sain
