MPG Places First in 5A, Second Overall in Birdville Marching Contest

Azle’s Marching Green Pride earned first place in the 5A Division and second place overall in the Birdville Marching Contest on Saturday, October 16, 2021. 

In preliminary competition, the MGP earned awards for Outstanding Music, General Effect, and Visual Presentation, as well as first place in 5A and second place overall. In finals, the band earned second place overall behind 6A powerhouse LD Bell.

Band placements were as follows:

  4. Rockwall
  5. Sachse
  6. Burleson Centennial
  7. Brewer
  8. Chisholm Trail
  9. Midlothian
  10. Burleson

“We are extremely proud of our students and their efforts,” said Band Director Aaron Martin.  “We are thankful for the support of our administration, our teachers, our parents, and our community.”  

The band will return to Birdville on Saturday, October 23, to compete in the Area F 5A Marching Contest. Their preliminary performance will be at 10 a.m. Based on the preliminary performance, they will perform in finals later that evening.
