Azle's MGP Places 3rd in First Competition in Two Years

On Saturday, September 25, the Azle High School Marching Green Pride competed for the first time in two years at the Golden Triangle Marching Contest in Denton. The band performed for preliminary competition first and advanced to finals in fourth place.

They drew for performance order and got to perform last in finals at 9 p.m. The MGP moved up to third place in finals and won Outstanding General Effect and Outstanding Visual Ensemble.

“Our MGP competed with pride and grit on Saturday,” said AHS Band Director Aaron Martin. “We faced some incredible bands at this contest, and we could not be prouder of the effort, and accomplishments of this fine group”, said Martin. “We are so excited to see what the rest of the season has in store for our Marching Green Pride!”

The band’s next contest will be on Saturday, October 2 in the Bands of America Midland Regional. Good luck, MGP! #WeAreAzle #HornetsInAction
