TASSP recognizes outstanding principals and assistant principals from the 20 regional education centers in the state. School administrators are nominated and chosen by their peers within their regions. Nominations are based upon exemplary performance and outstanding leadership.

As a Region 11 winner, Mr. Cobb is eligible to compete for the state title of Texas Principal of the Year. If selected as a state winner by the TASSP Principals Image Committee, Cobb would have the opportunity to compete for the NASSP National Principal of the Year Award.

Mr. Cobb has served Azle High School for five years and has been a high school principal for 30 years. He attended the University of North Texas where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree and Master of Education. He sees himself as being a risk-taker, a visionary, and a leader of learners. Cobb is credited with numerous achievements including serving as a high school principal in all school classifications and serving as a member of the TASSP Board of Directors.

Each of the region winners will be recognized during the Josten’s Night of the Stars Awards Dinner held in conjunction with the TASSP Summer Workshop held each year in June in Austin.  Each will be presented with an award and recognized in a commemorative book entitled Texas Principals, Texas Heroes.

Congratulations on this prestigious achievement, Mr. Cobb!
