High school band students from across Texas auditioned in 33 different regions for a place in their respective All-Region jazz ensembles. All-Region ensembles were announced by TMEA in October.
The top chairs in each region were selected to record an audition that was adjudicated recently, resulting in 20 students selected for All-State honors. Lee, a member of the Azle High School band, was chosen for this prestigious honor through competitive auditions held this year across the state at region and area levels. This is his first time to perform as a member of the TMEA All-State Band.
Lee plays the Bass Guitar and Alto Saxophone at AHS under the direction of Aaron Martin, Greg Davis, and Michael Strange who are members of the Texas Music Educator Association, a 13,000-member group of music educators in class 1A through 6A high schools in Texas.
"We are extremely proud of Holt and his dedication to music," said AHS Band Director Aaron Martin. "He is a hard-working and talented young man with a great outlook on life. We are proud to have him as a member of the AHS band program."
The TMEA All-State Jazz Ensemble will meet for rehearsals in June 2021.
