Jeremy May Appointed as School Board Member, Place 5
The Azle ISD Board of Trustees held a Special Board Meeting on Wednesday, September 2, 2020, to consider the appointment of an individual to fill the unexpired term of Azle ISD Board of Trustees Place 5, replacing Sam Merck.
State law and Board policy provide that if a vacancy occurs on the Board, the remaining members may fill the vacancy by appointment until the next board member election or order a special election. The Board voted unanimously to appoint Jeremy May to fill the vacancy until the next election which will be in May 2021.
May grew up in Weatherford, Texas, and graduated from Weatherford High School in 1990. He and his wife Leila have been married for 18 years and have twin boys that attend Azle High School. He attended Weatherford College and the University of Texas at Arlington and has been in the land title industry since 1993.
He has been very active in the Azle community since moving to the area in 2009, serving on various committees and boards, including serving as president of the Azle Little League for several years.
“I have a passion for helping the kids of Azle perform to their fullest potential, and I always strive to be an example for them to look up to,” he said. “I truly consider it an honor to serve the students and families of Azle ISD.”
May will officially be sworn in as a Board Member and administered the oath of office at the regular Board meeting on September 21.
