Azle High School and SFE, its food service partner, hosted a Farmer's Market. A real farm-to-table experience.
Azle High School and SFE, its food service partner, hosted a Farmer’s Market at the High School for up to 1,800 students and faculty. The event featured a display of exotic, fresh produce, including exotic varieties of fresh produce ranging from Cactus Pear to Dates to Tomatoes and Mandarinquats; as well as a live cooking demonstrations and dish sampling presented by Azle’s award-winning culinary students from the Pro-Start Culinary Program and Azle district Chef, Joseph Koons. The culinary team used three of the vegetables (colorful cauliflower, heirloom tomatoes, and swiss chard) presented by SFE to make a Penne Pasta Regatta Primavera a La Mariana. This event was designed to give students a real farm-to-table experience, letting students taste the delicious result of cooking with fresh produce from their culinary peers. -Almarie Rivera
