At the June 20 Board Meeting, the Azle ISD Board of Trustees approved the name of the district's new elementary school that is currently under construction. Formerly known as "Elementary #6", the new campus will be named Hilltop Elementary.

An Azle ISD Naming Committee, comprised of approximately 25 individuals representing various roles in the Azle ISD community, met on June 13 to discuss suggestions and ideas before determining recommendations to present to the Board. The Committee presented two name suggestions to the Board of Trustees at the Monday, June 20, Board Meeting.

The district broke ground on the school in May of 2022, and the principal will be Amy Rollmann. The campus will be located on South Stewart Street and FM 730 South and is scheduled to open in August of 2023. It will have a capacity of approximately 600 and an innovative design similar to Walnut Creek Elementary. 

Attendance boundaries will be determined at a later date.

Construction funding for this campus was approved by Azle ISD voters in the May 2021 Bond Package.
