Mrs. Amanda Russ
I love Science and I love teaching Science to 7th graders. I hope that love comes through in my daily interactions with students.
After several years of working as a graphic designer, I decided to finish my education and make a career change. I wanted to follow my passion for teaching and do something that made a difference in the world around me. In 2010, I graduated from the University of Phoenix with a Bachelor's degree in Human Services Management. I went on to finish my training as a teacher and receive my teaching certificate. I graduate with my Master's in Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Tarleton State University in December 2021. I have been teaching since 2012.
My ultimate goal as an educator is to ignite my students passion for learning.
WHY I LOVE TO TEACH:
I received an email several years ago containing the poem “The Dash” and asking how will you live your dash (the dash on your eventual headstone). I want my life and career to be meaningful to others. Teaching is more than imparting knowledge to children. A teacher advocates, loves, encourages, corrects, motivates, engages, and most of all cares. I can think of no other way I would rather spend my dash than by serving students and my community as a teacher.
