Mrs. Hill

I relocated from Chicago, IL last year, and am enjoying getting to know the students of Azle High School. I began my teaching career with five years in an all-girls Catholic high school, teaching theater, speech, and British Literature. I then spent two years teaching Industrial Technology (hand drafting, woodworking, and basic acrylic plastics work) at a public middle school just outside of Chicago. I like being back working with high schoolers and sharing my love of British Literature.

I come from a family of educators. My father and older brother were both music teachers. Before teaching, I worked a number of different jobs including stage management, scenic design, technical direction, and scenic painting in theaters around Chicago, 13 years with a professional portrait photographer, on the crew for a pipe organ builder, selling swords at a Renaissance Faire, and 4.5 years at Starbucks. My diverse background brings a broad spectrum of information, creativity, and connections to my classroom.

Outside of teaching, my husband and I enjoy theater, movies, running, and comic cons. Our first baby was born last winter, Ciara (pronounced Key-era). She's kind of amazing. She was born with moderate/moderate-severe hearing loss, and we are diving into the world of hearing aids and ASL. We also have a black cat, Eddie, and an English Bulldog, Angus.
