The Azle ISD Board of Trustees promoted Tanya L. Anderson to Superintendent of Schools on June 30, 2017. Anderson had served Azle ISD for 26 years as teacher at Liberty Elementary and Cross Timbers Elementary, assistant principal at Azle High School, principal at Liberty Elementary, Secondary Curriculum Coordinator, Executive Director of Curriculum, and Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Human Resources.
“I am proud of our accomplishments in Azle ISD. Our district motto is, ‘Making a difference to every child, every chance, every day.’ Our goal is to promote excellence in all areas—academics, extra-curricular, and co-curricular, while meeting the needs of each child. Azle ISD is the Heart of Azle, which is the district’s commitment to customer service. The Azle ISD Board of Trustees, Azle Education Foundation, Azle community, administration, teachers, staff, parents, and students all partner together for a common goal,” she said.

Anderson is a member of the Azle Rotary Club and is the Vice Chairman on the Board of the Texas Health Resources Regional Community Impact Committee for Tarrant and Parker Counties. She is currently serving on the Advocacy Committee for the Texas Association of School Administrators. Anderson has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of North Texas, a Master of Education from Tarleton State University, and Superintendent Certification from San Angelo State University.
Anderson and her husband, Scott, have 3 children and two grandsons—Ashlyn, AHS Class of 2007; Brennan, AHS Class of 2012; Taylor, AHS class of 2014; David Scott, AHS future class of 2033; Rowan, AHS future class of 2036.
