Coach Randon Knoll

Coach Randon Knoll is a graduate of Ackley-Geneva High School (IA) in 1995. While in high school, Coach Knoll lettered in five sports and participated in Student Council and Choir.  Some of Coach Knoll’s honors include being named the District Most Outstanding Player in football, 3rd Team All-State DB (Jr.), and 2nd Team All-State Offensive End (Sr.) .  He was also Student Council President as well as Homecoming King. 

Knoll went on to play football at Central College (IA) before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. While serving as an Enlisted Marine, Knoll was an Honor Graduate for Recruit Training and graduated Top of the Class at Security Forces School.  While serving at the Presidential Retreat, Camp David, Knoll was meritoriously promoted twice, and selected for a commissioning program.

Coach Knoll graduated from Iowa State University with a B.S. in Finance and was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant. Knoll continued to serve an additional 13 years as a commissioned officer, retiring in 2018 after 21 years of faithful service.

This year will mark the beginning of his 3rd year in the teaching and coaching profession.  He is certified in Social Studies Composite and is an assistant coach in football (Safeties) as well as an assistant wrestling coach.

Randon and his wife, Tracey, will celebrate 20 years of marriage this year. Tracey is a CTE teacher and the CTE Department Chair at Azle High School. Together they have three children, Azle ISD Grads Ashlyn (‘17), Braeden (‘21) and their daughter Dylan who is a Senior at Azle High School this year.
