
Azle ISD residents approved a $59.5 million Bond package in November of 2016. The Bond package was developed by a task force of local volunteers consisting of 21 parents and community members. The task force met for six months to review current Azle ISD facilities and capacities, historical student growth and projections, and economic indicators along with cost estimates and financial implications.
The 2016 Bond package covered three project areas with the following estimated costs:
- New Construction - $52,246,000
- Renovation and Preservation - $4,729,000
- Safety and Security - $2,525,000
Completed projects from the 2016 Bond package include:
- A new Azle Elementary campus
- A new Walnut Creek Elementary campus
- An additional wing at Silver Creek Elementary
- Renovation of the existing Azle Elementary campus to house all central administration offices, training rooms, and district network operations
- Renovation of the existing Walnut Creek Elementary campus to house the Hornet Academy and DAEP
- Addition of safety and security features to all Azle ISD campuses, including controlled entry vestibules and district-wide lockdown access controls
