Meet the Teacher

  • I am so excited to start this school year! I am going into my 16th year working in structured classrooms. Wow! Time has really flown by! I started out 16 years ago in a neighboring district as an aide in a structured classroom. I fell in love with the students and everything about the structured classrooms. Before I knew it I was in my own classroom. This will be my 8th year as a classroom teacher. I absolutely love what I do! Even as we face unknown challenges this year, I truly can't imagine doing anything else.

My husband of 32 years, Mike, and I have been blessed with two amazing sons. My oldest, Jason, is an assistant band director with Hughes Springs ISD. My youngest, Zach, teaches high school history in Lubbock ISD. I couldn't be prouder of my boys!

When I'm not at school, I enjoy spending time in my backyard with my dog, Lilly. We just putter around gardening and enjoying all the life in the yard. We could spend hours just watching the birds, squirrels, lizards, and bees. Last year I adopted a stray cat, Pete. Yes, he is named after one of my favorite book characters, Pete the Cat. He does go on many adventures but hasn't put on a pair of shoes yet.

This is my dog Lilly.     My backyard - where I go to relax.   Happy toad visiting my yard.   There's Pete just sitting on the fence, singing his song....I love the sunshine, I love the sunshine, I love the sunshine.
