Azle ISD Gifted and Talented Program

  • Azle ISD's Gifted and Talented program is available to students in grades K-12 and is designed to meet the diverse needs of the gifted population. The AISD G/T program enables gifted students to work together as a group, work with other students, and work independently. Students identified as "Gifted and Talented" will be served through curriculum compacting, tiered assignments, flexible grouping, and independent research projects.

Spring 2021 Request to Test for the AISD G/T Program Instructions

  • IN-PERSON LEARNERS (First thru 6th grade): 
    Beginning April 2,2021, parents/guardians may contact their campus counselor to request testing for their student to be placed in the G/T Program (letters will be sent home via your student or whatever method your campus typically uses for parent contact with detailed information). NOTE: April 9, 2021, is the deadline for notifying your campus counselor of this request to test. Once the counselor is notified, you will receive a packet from your student's school. You have until April 16, 2021, to complete this packet and return it to your campus. Right now, visitors are not allowed on campuses so all transporting of documents will be through your student or digitally. 

    IN-PERSON LEARNERS (7th grade thru 12th grade): 
    Beginning April 2, 2021, parents/guardians may request that their student be assessed for the G/T Program by contacting  District Specialist to set-up the assessment (contact information is below). April 2, 2021, is the deadline for making the request to testPLEASE NOTE: G/T testing will be facilitated by the District Specialist on the student's home campus. 

    VIRTUAL LEARNERS (ALL grades thru 12th): 

    Beginning April 2, 2021, parents/guardians WILL BE SENT A DIGITAL LETTER, via your virtual teacher, with testing instructions for their student to be placed in the G/T Program. April 9, 2021, is the deadline for responding to this communication with a request to test. Once the virtual teacher/district is notified, you will receive communication via email from the district G/T specialist, Christy Collins, detailing the process. PLEASE NOTE: As a virtual learner, you must select one of two options for G/T assessment: 1. Your student will be tested at the AISD Administrative Office with Ms. Collins, which will enable district protocols to be maintained or 2. Your student may select to postpone testing until a later date (during next fall's regular testing cycle). PLEASE have your decision ready to be communicated to Ms. Collins by April 9, 2021
