Welcome to Cross Timbers Elementary School's Website!

My name is Dee Gilley and I am thrilled to serve as the principal of Cross Timbers Elementary School.  I have  years experience in education in the United States (Texas and Idaho) and overseas in Tripoli, Libya (North Africa), five years; Jakarta, Indonesia (Southeast Asia), four years; and Aberdeen, Scotland (Europe), nine years.  I have taught elementary, junior high, high school, and college courses in the United States and been a guidance counselor and high school principal overseas at The American School in Aberdeen, Scotland.

My family and I moved to Azle in 1989.  I taught sixth grade for five years, was Assistant Principal at Azle High School in 1994-1998, and in the fall of 1998 opened Azle's newest beautiful K-4 campus-Cross Timbers Elementary School.

Cross Timbers has consistently been a Texas Education Agency "recognized" campus, except in 2003 when we were ranked "exemplary."  Our goal is for all students to develop essential skills and acquire a knowledge base on which to build lifelong learning.  The staff and I want Cross Timbers students to feel comfortable in their environment and to learn to communicate effectively by developing their ability to think logically, independently, and creatively.

I have the unique opportunity of working closely with all of our talented, caring, awesome staff, students and families.  We take great pride in our commitment to work together to create a learning environment that strives for excellence and always puts children first.  Collaborative planning is the key to our success at Cross Timbers.

We encourage our parents to take an active role in their child's

education and to work hand in hand with the staff to review and analyze their child's performance data and using the results, plan with us as a team an appropriate instructional program for each child.Cross Timbers continues to foster family and community involvement.  We have moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles and frequently, siblings working in classrooms, contributing on Career Day and Field Day, going on field trips, serving on PTO, on school committees, and helping at parties.  We love that our parking lot is always full.  Parents interested in volunteering or serving on one or more committees are encouraged to contact the school at 817-444-3802.
